The Nashville General Hospital Foundation is thrilled to host an inspiring event supporting the Women’s Health Fund at Nashville General Hospital. This unique gathering will be led by Kristi Tobias, a renowned national speaker and executive coach, who will be our Master of Ceremonies. Kristi, who has courageously shared her journey with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for over a decade, advocates for the importance of giving every individual a voice.
Our Women in Medicine speaker is Dr. Deann Bullock, a respected physician who has served as the Emergency Department Medical Director at Nashville General for the past 17 years. Dr. Bullock also leads the hospital’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, championing compassionate care for survivors of sexual assault.
The keynote speaker is Jessica Buchanan, whose harrowing story of survival has touched audiences worldwide. On October 25, 2011, while working as an Education Advisor for a non-governmental organization in Somalia, Jessica was abducted by Somali pirates and held captive for 93 days under unimaginable conditions. Her health rapidly declined until, in a daring operation ordered by President Obama, SEAL Team VI rescued her on January 25, 2012. Jessica's experience inspired her to found Soul Speak Press, where she now helps others reclaim their voices after trauma. Her work includes leading the anthology Deserts to Mountaintops: Our Collective Journey to (re)Claiming Our Voice, a testament to the strength found in shared healing.
The Women’s Health Fund supports comprehensive healthcare services for women, including essential preventive care like mammograms and gynecological exams, heart health initiatives, and programs designed to address healthcare disparities.
